To get to some of the off-the-beaten-track places in Flinders Ranges and Outback, you’re going to need a 4WD. But if you’re flying into Adelaide, you might find it hard to secure a hire car that will allow you to go off-roading. Or, if you’re a local without a 4WD, it feels like a crime to miss out on this glorious part of Australia on your doorstep! That’s where the legends at SA Eco Tours come to the rescue.
Flinders Ranges & Outback – 3-Day Small Group 4WD Eco Tour
Short on time but big on adventure? The 3-Day tour might be right up your alley. In just three days you will tick off: Flinders Ranges National Park, the historic outback town of Quorn, Warrens Gorge Conservation Park, the Willochra Plains, Ancient Aboriginal Art Sites, Wilpena Pound, Brachina Gorge, and Melrose (the oldest town in the Flinders Ranges).
Departing Adelaide on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month, this tour is perfect for a long weekend escape. But just between us, scratching the surface of our beautiful region in three short days will have you coming back for more!
Lake Eyre & Flinders Ranges Tour – 4-Day Small Group 4WD Eco Tour
Have another day up your sleeve and you’re able to travel midweek? This four-day tour not only gets you ticking off bucket list places on the ground like our 3-day tour, but it also includes a spectacular six-hour scenic flight over Lake Eyre (Kati Thanda) and the Flinders Ranges!
On your scenic flight, you will fly over iconic places such as Wilpena Pound, Brachina Gorge, Parachilna, the Leigh Creek open-cut coal fields and, of course, the awe-inspiring Lake Eyre. If that isn’t enough to excite you, we’ll land at the outback town of William Creek for lunch in one of Australia’s most remote pubs. On the way back, keep your eyes peeled as you soar above the beautiful Anna Creek Painted Hills.
Departing Adelaide on the 3rd Monday of each month, you’ll be feeling pretty smug about not being at work!
Flinders Ranges & Outback – 5 Day Small Group 4WD Eco Tour
Ready to explore further into Flinders Ranges and Outback? This 5-day tour will begin by taking you to the Southern Flinders Ranges, travelling through Pitchi Ritchi Park to the historic Quorn, with stops at Warrens Gorge to spot yellow-footed rock wallabies and then on to Blinman for an underground copper mine tour. Over the days following, you will experience the transition to the remote outback, crossing ancient creek beds and experiencing the stunning landscape change of Arkaroola. You’ll also have a fantastic experience with Iga Warta Aboriginal community, lunch at Copley Bakery, and explore wildlife and geological marvels of Brachina Gorge, especially the Ediacaran fossils.
This tour departs the last Friday of every month from Adelaide. Make sure you pack gear for exploring because you’re in for an adventure.
Adelaide to Coober Pedy – 7 Day Small Group 4WD Eco Tour incl. Lake Eyre, Flinders Ranges and Outback
The week-long adventure of every adventure seeker's dream! You will spend seven days ticking off so many iconic places of the Australian outback that you’ll find it impossible to find a favourite. On this tour, you’ll head straight up to Port Augusta and experience Wadlata Outback Centre along with the beautiful Southern Flinders Ranges. You’ll then make your way to Coober Pedy, famed for its opal fields and iconic underground living, before continuing to William Creek the next day. You’ll also get to say that you’ve ticked off 4wding on the Oodnadatta Track, as you make your way to Maree. Your next stop is the beloved Arkaroola Wilderness Lodge, filled with mind-boggling beauty everywhere you look. Next, you continue south to visit Lake Frome, Blinman, Brachina Gorge and Wilpena Pound, before finishing off the tour by heading back to Adelaide.
You also have the option of ticking off a bucket list item with options extras on this tour including a flight over Lake Eyre. Allowing you to create the trip of your dreams.
This tour departs from Adelaide on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, taking you on an adventure of a lifetime. If you already find yourself in Coober Pedy, you have the option to join the tour from there, continuing to Adelaide.
Southern Flinders Ranges Private Charter - 1 Day
If your time is limited, but your sense of adventure isn't, join the team for a private 1 day charter to explore Southern Flinders Ranges.
You will visit historical coastal towns and learn about South Australia’s rich maritime history of long jetties and old sailing boats. Before long you'll be enjoying a picnic lunch at Mt Remarkable National Park surrounded by stunning 600 million year old mountains with an abundance of native wildlife. No trip to Southern Flinders ranges is complete without a stop at Melrose to explore the town.
You'll arrive back in Adelaide at approximately 6:00pm, after an incredible taste of the Flinders Ranges that will leave you wanting more.
