About Prairie Hotel
Where the desert meets the Flinders Ranges, the Prairie Hotel, Parachilna, South Australia, is an Australian icon.
First licensed in 1876, Ross Fargher, fourth generation cattleman, and wife Jane, bought their ‘local’ in 1991, and created the quintessential Australian outback Hotel and Lodge which they continue to run today.
This tiny footprint on the vast landscape is a destination in itself.
The hotel’s ‘Prairie Outback Lodge’ of just 12 rooms radiates elegance, comfort, a quirky, relaxed country style delivered with gracious attention and hospitality.
The restaurant is renowned for feral fare with flair, accented with native ingredients and its own ‘The Flinders Range’ condiments. A tidy beverage list includes their own ‘Fargher Lager’ and a fossil inspired wine range referencing the globally significant Ediacaran fossil fields on nearby Nilpena Station.
Enjoy the gallery of significant artworks and a curated experience of the options available on the doorstep.
Flight of the Ranges and beyond, guided visit to the fossil site, world class hiking and biking in collaboration with other local operators.
The Prairie is 90 kilometres of bitumen north of Hawker in the Flinders Ranges.
Prairie Outback Lodge Dinner, Bed and Breakfast packages on-line at www.prairiehotel.com.au Single person supplements apply. Railway Fettlers Cottages and the 'Overflow', adjacent to the Hotel, are closed for the 2020 season.
