Orroroo
Orroroo is the ideal place from which to explore the majestic beauty of both the Southern and Central Flinders Ranges.
Step back in time as you wander along Orroroo’s picturesque main street lined with shop facades dating back to the 1870s. For the enthusiastic, embark on the historical building walk ‘Find the Magpie’, which is a great way to explore this friendly scenic town.
Walk or cycle Orroroo’s established trails, taking in breathtaking scenery along Pekina Creek, home to the Giant Gum Tree and the historic rail bridge, plus additional highlights including Aboriginal carvings, the reservoir, and a poem carved into rock in the late 19th century. You can hire bikes from the nearby caravan park.
Kids will love Magnetic Hill – a phenomenon that needs to be experienced to be believed. Leave your car in neutral at the bottom of the hill and watch as it rolls back up to the top. Other attractions close by include iconic ghost towns, challenging cycling tracks, and geocaching locations. Meanwhile, exhilarating 4W-driving, action-packed mountain biking, breathtaking views and pristine campsites, cottages and shearers’ quarters await visitors to the Bendleby Ranges.
